You can generate a Housecall Pro API key by signing into your Admin account, going to My Apps > All Apps, locating API Key Management, and clicking Generate API Key. Note that only Admin users can create or delete API keys due to account data security.
How to Generate Your Key
- Sign in: Log into your Housecall Pro account as an Administrator.
- Navigate: Open My Apps, go to the App Store, and find All Apps.
- Select: Search for or select API Key Management.
- Create: Click Generate API Key, choose your permissions (Full access or Read-only), name the key, and copy the generated token.
Managing and Using the Key
- Keep it secure: Your API key provides complete data access to your account; only share it with trusted developers or secure automation tools.
- Authentication format: Pass the key in your request headers using the format specified in the Housecall Pro Public API Documentation.
- Deletion: You can revoke or delete a compromised or unused key at any time from the API Key Management menu, though this will disable active integrations tied to it.
